Maybe it started with a mom who let me play in the mud as a child, or the ceramics class I took in high school but once I touched clay I was hooked. I am a maker at my core and love the feeling of creating.
I put aside my love of clay and taught school, raised some kids, blah blah blah, and here I am now, making pottery in my backyard studio in the Four Corners. (yes, people really do live here)
in small batches. (hey it’s just me) I also enjoy hand-building and combining the two. Though I tend to stick with polka dots, scallops and florals, I am always up for experimenting and trying new ways to design my pots.
...to make baby quilts to donate. (I did say I was a maker). But I also find ideas everywhere- my phone is full of pics of grandkids, beaches, castles, trees and flowers, all influencing my art. I may like to listen to true crime podcasts while I work, but I prefer innocence and whimsy in my designs. You also won’t find me with a ruler trying to make the lines straight on my pots, but if my bed isn’t made and the kitchen isn’t clean, I can get a little anxious.
(or cleaning the kitchen) I am usually off on some adventure with my husband, whose love of traveling has rubbed off on me. While he checks off his worldwide bucket list, I gather inspiration from the places we visit, bringing home new ideas- and of course, a little sand.
